Get ready for a night of chaos, clashing egos, and comedy gold as Crown Wharf Theatre brings A Bunch of Amateurs to the stage this summer.

Running from Wednesday 11th to Saturday 14th June 2025 at 7:30 pm each evening, this fast-paced farce promises big personalities, bigger belly laughs, and a healthy dose of local theatre magic.
About the show
Written by Ian Hislop and Nick Newman, A Bunch of Amateurs follows faded Hollywood actor Jefferson Steele, who thinks he’s signed on to perform Shakespeare in Stratford-upon-Avon. Instead, he finds himself in a village hall with the amateur Stratford Players and a cast of well-meaning but wildly underprepared locals.
Cue misunderstandings, melodrama, and mayhem as Jefferson tries to wrestle King Lear into shape – while the rest of the cast try to keep their production (and egos) intact.
A celebration of local theatre
Presented by Stone Revellers, the production is a heartfelt – and hilarious – celebration of community drama groups and the joys of putting on a show.

“We’re thrilled to bring this gem of a comedy to Stone,” said Rob Stanway, Chairman of Stone Revellers. “It’s a love letter to the passion and quirks of local theatre, wrapped in a riotous package that will have audiences roaring with laughter. It’s the perfect night out for friends, family, or anyone looking to escape with a smile.”
