Stone Old Alleynians are looking to cause an upset when they host Hanley Town in the quarter finals of the Staffordshire FA Vase at Wellbeing Park on Saturday, and manager Matt Smith is calling on the town to get behind his players as they take on the North West Counties Division One outfit.
“They’re obviously a good side with an excellent reputation locally, and we’d love to have a big crowd behind us to lend their support to the lads – who really deserve it following our 11-game unbeaten streak that sees us sit 3rd in the league table,” said Smith. “We ended 2014 on a high, and began 2015 with a convincing home win, so we’ll certainly be looking to upset the odds.”
Luke Askey is set to return from an ankle injury that kept him out of Saturday’s 3-0 win over Worcester Raiders, while captain Paul Griffiths is a doubt following a reoccurrence of the thigh injury that troubled him earlier in the season.
Kick-off is 3pm at Wellbeing Park in Yarnfield, and entry is £3 for adults, £2 for concessions and free for children.
Go along and cheer on the Old Boys!
The Old Boys Reserves are also looking to reach a semi-final this weekend, with Kev Warrilow’s side taking on Leek COSB Reserves away from home in the League Cup.
