Darts team ladies run Race For Life for Cherryl

The ladies from the Royal Exchange at the start of the race

The ladies’ darts team from The Royal Exchange ran the Race For Life in Stafford last night in memory of former landlady Cherryl Poppit, who died last year. The team – Cheryl’s daughter Laura, Helen Clarke, Mandy Bott, Anneli and Ellie Baxter, Laurelin Keirle, Jackie Warburton and Sazz Warb – were raising money for Cancer Research UK.

Helen said: “Cherryl was an amazing friend and to lose her so suddenly hit all her friends and family hard. We all have a lot to be thankful for from knowing her. She had planned to do Race for Life this year. Scarily, most people have a story to tell about themselves or someone they know who has been hit by cancer. I know I personally have too many tales to tell. For this reason we all decided to take part in Race For Life.”

Helen said she was so grateful for the support of current Exchange landlady Michelle Hughes, who also put on some post-race food in the pub last night – curry, chilli, onion bhajis and samosas!
