Deadline looming for carpet bed ideas

The carpet bed in the park this summer

Businesses and organisations only have a few days left if they want to see their work celebrated in flowers at an award-winning park in Stone.

Stafford Borough Council is looking for an emblem or logo to be created in flowers for the carpet bed at the town’s popular Stonefield Park.  They have until Sunday 30th January to tell the council why their logo should take centre stage in the park.

Last year the carpet bed in Stone marked 100 years of Girlguiding – with the park winning an award for ‘Horticultural Excellence’ in the ‘In Bloom’ competition in the summer.

Councillor Mike Smith, cabinet member for leisure, said: “There must be plenty of businesses and organisations in our community who would love to see their work celebrated in this unique way.”

Nominations will need to say why the organisation should take pride of place in the park and should be emailed to Customer Liaison Officer David Roberts, dcroberts@staffordbc.gov.uk.  You can also write to him at Stafford Borough Council, Drummond Road, Astonfields Industrial Estate, Stafford ST16 3HJ. For further details call 01785 619347.

The planting of the beds will take place in June.
