Parents of children who are due to start secondary school in 2017 have less than a month to submit their applications.
The closing date for application is 31st Ocober, then the Staffordshire County Council’s admissions team will begin the mammoth task of allocating school places.
Staffordshire County Council has launched a new online tool that gives them the ability to search, compare and see the characteristics and performance of local schools to help parents make the best choices for their children. The new tool includes Ofsted rating, GCSE and A Level results, what pupils went on to do after their studies, and whether a school is over subscribed. Parents can head over to the online tool at www.staffordshire.gov.uk/admission.
Admissions for 2015 allocated 98% of children into one of their top 3 preferred schools, with 9 out of 10 getting tjeir first choice. Parents are being encouraged to choose three preferred schools when filling in their applications, and to visit any potential secondary schools before making a choice.

Our new online tool makes choosing a school that much easier. By providing parents with key information about the schools in their area, we can aim to ensure that families have the information they need to get the best out of education and learning, by making the right choices.”
