Campaigners held demonstrations today (31st December) on the day that youth centres across the county are closed.
The ‘Save Staffordshire Youth Services’ campaign group said it wanted to push one final time for the overruling of the Staffordshire County Council decision to close youth centres – including the one in Stone – and make youth workers redundant.
Jack Taylor, lead campaigner for Save Staffordshire Youth Services, said: “Staffordshire County Council will never live this down and I for one am not going to let them. We have demonstrations happening all across Staffordshire on New Year’s Eve including Stafford Market Square, Biddulph Youth Centre and more.”
The county council says it is overhauling youth service provision as only one in five young people make use of current facilities. More on their position HERE
Stone Town Council has formally bid to take over the running of Stone youth centre – a decision will be made by the county council in March. More on that HERE
