Developer appeals rejection of Walton Heath housing plan

A housing developer has appealed Stafford Borough Council’s decision not to grant planning permission for 114 new homes at Walton Heath in Stone.

David Wilson Homes’ application to build the houses at Walton Heath was refused by the borough council in May – they said the number of new houses identified for Stone in the Stafford Borough Local Plan could be met from existing development.

The decision followed a vocal campaign by local people who erected ‘No To David Wilson Houses’ placards in their front gardens and held public meetings.

But the appeal means their fight against the development isn’t over yet. A public inquiry will now be held in 2016 (date to be arranged) chaired by an inspector appointed by the Secretary of State.
