A developer who wants to demolish The Vine pub and replace it with a housing estate has been asked to incorporate the historic pub building into their plans.
Internetbase submitted an application to demolish the Vine and build 10 homes in its place. But residents and regulars objected and put together a 500-signature petition in the hope Stafford Borough Council would refuse planning permission.
Members of the council’s planning committee voted unanimously to defer a decision at a meeting on Wednesday 25th May. They admitted that the Vine building would no longer be a pub on the new estate, but want Birmingham-based Internetbase to include the building in their plans.
Complaints about the development included issues of increased traffic and poor parking provision.
