Digital boost for Hylands

The digital switchover that started today has certainly provided a boost for Hylands electrical store.

The High Street shop has seen a flood of enquiries and sales over the last few days as many people in the town left it late to make sure they could still watch the telly.

The analogue BBC2 service in the West Midlands was switched off today, with other terrestrial channels to follow suit in a fortnight.

Manager Simon Davies said: “It’s been mad to be honest. The phone hasn’t stopped ringing these last few days. We can’t get enough Freeview set-top boxes in at the minute. We ran out of them on Monday but got another delivery today thank goodness. We’ve also been selling lots of digital-ready TVs and digital recorders. It’s been a real boost for business.

“We’ve had displays in the windows and have been talking to our customers for months, but people often leave these things till the last minute. There’s still a fortnight before all the analogue channels are switched off, so we’re expecting to be busy for a while yet.”

There’s lots more information on the digital switchover here.

I had Freeview HD before the first re-tune.
After the re-tune they have gone.
The signal was weak anyway but now the TV (Sony Bravia with Freeview HD) will not even find the HD signals !
Freeview tell me that they should return after the second re-tune after the 21st Sept. Will wait and see 🙁
