North Staffordshire Community Rail want to hear your opinions on the provision of step-free access to platform 1 of Stone railway station.
Readers of our website, and followers of our social media, often get in touch about the lack of access to platform 1 for those not able to navigate the stairs and bridge. Wheelchair users, pushchair users and those with mobility problems tell us about their struggle to access the north heading platform 1 in Stone.
The North Staffs Community Rail Partnership have today sent through the following in a hope to receive comments from members of the public about the access.

There is currently no step-free access to Platform 1 at Stone Railway Station. The North Staffs Community Rail Partnership (NSCRP) would like to know whether there is a need in the local community for better access e.g. through the installation of lifts. We would like to receive comments from anybody who uses Stone Station or who might use Stone Station if Platform 1 had step-free access.
Those wishing to respond can contact the NSCRP by any of the following methods:
• Email: Northstaffscrp@stoke.gov.uk
• Facebook: North Staffs Community Rail
• Phone: 07385 080496/07879 115698

We’ve just come back from holiday with suitcases and rucksacks. Very difficult to manage steps, especially with replacement knees and hip.

We have a double buggy/pushchair and really struggled today accessing platform 1. The lack of a lift or ramps for wheelchair users or parents with prams is absolutely shocking in 2025. Needs sorting pronto.

Yes step free access is definitely needed. Even if its not a lift, some kind of ramp bridge without steps. So awkward for diaabled people and those with luggage. Its really hard. I nearly missed my train because i struggled so much with the steps. It was exhausting & stressful
