People have been warned to watch out for suspicious blue pellets, thought to be rat poison, that have been left around Walton.

Yesterday (20th April) in Churchill Road on the flat-roof estate in Walton there were a number of bright blue pellets left in piles on the grass verges. Stafford Borough Council workers cleared them away after being alerted by residents were worried that dogs, cats or – even worse, children – could be harmed by them.

Things got worse this morning (21st April) when a number of patches of meat chunks covered with the blue pellets were found in St Vincent Road.

[box type=”shadow” ]Cllr Jill Hood said today: “It’s obvious that someone means harm to either cats, dogs or even birds and there may be some more areas we haven’t spotted yet in the area. All dog walkers should be vigilant and make sure their pets are kept away from the pellets.”[/box]

Marnie Phillips said: “I’ve been out with neighbours on St Vincent Road and we’ve seen vast quantities of rat poison on the grass verges either side to the entrance of Churchill Road. I’ve been advised that the council will be trying to remove it this afternoon. However, there is an awful lot and being tiny, I don’t hold out much hope of it all being cleared. It is a nightmare of a job.

“These pellets look to be fresh this morning. Manor Hill First School have been informed as I was concerned about the children walking on the grass and getting it on the bottom of their shoes. We stopped a number of dog walkers who were unaware and ask all cat and dog owners, and parents, to be very very careful. Please report to the council if you spot more.”
