Endeavour Youth Club received an unexpected boost to funds with a welcome windfall from Yarnfield fete committee recently, in the shape of a cheque for £100.
The club held a stall at the fete last September to raise money for the club. It is hoped the money will go towards purchasing something fun, that the youngsters who attend will enjoy, and enable them to burn off lots of energy on a Friday night, especially with the onset of lighter nights and warmer weather now Spring has finally sprung.
The club, which operates from the Frank Jordan Centre on Lichfield Street, was set up by Ruth and Peter Tinsley, and is for children aged 5-14 with disabilities and additional needs, such as autism, with the simple aim to make friends and have fun.

We figured if we were struggling, then others were too. We meet every Friday at the Frank Jordan Centre from 6pm to 7.30pm. Each week the children learn to cook (and eat or take home) a simple recipe, as well as taking part in different craft activities. We also have sports and team games going on. We charge £2 per night for each child and siblings pay £1.
“The children really enjoy this time and have formed some great friendships. Many of the parents stay and have also become friends. Parents have the option to stay or leave their child with us. At the end of each term we hold a party.”[/box]
