A man has been arrested in Stone following a stop and search near Oulton Road, as neighbourhood policing teams continue their work to tackle local drug use.
On Sunday 27th April, officers pulled over a car and carried out a roadside drug test on the driver. A 31-year-old man from the Stone area tested positive for cannabis and was arrested on suspicion of drug driving. He has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
The arrest is part of wider proactive patrols in Stone and Barlaston carried out throughout April.
During one of these patrols, two people were stopped in separate incidents on Willow Road and Ash Road in Stone. Officers seized cannabis in both cases.
Further action in Barlaston led to five people and four vehicles being searched on Wedgwood Drive. Class A and Class B substances, including cannabis, cocaine and nitrous oxide, were found and confiscated.
Outcomes so far include:
- Multiple drug seizures
- Two community resolutions issued
- Ongoing intelligence gathering
Sergeant Claire Goodridge, from Stone’s local policing team, said:
“Driving under the influence of illegal substances puts the public at risk and I want to make it clear that the possession and use of drugs in this way will not be tolerated.
Neighbourhood policing is about keeping people safe and targeting those who cause most harm and our local officers will continue to work proactively to tackle issues that are of concern to our communities.
Getting out and about, knowing your patch and knowing faces is important.”
