He was spotted in Eccleshall a few days ago and now actor Eddie Redmayne has been seen in Stone after filling up his vehicle at Fairway Service Station!
Beth Scott and sister Hannah work at the service station in Lichfield Road and met the Oscar winner on Sunday morning (3rd January) when he went into the shop to pay for his petrol.
Eddie won a Golden Globe – and an Oscar – for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in The Theory Of Everything. His latest film, The Danish Girl, is currently showing at cinemas across the UK and he’ll be at the Golden Globes awards in Beverley Hills this weekend, where he’s up for the Best Actor award yet again, and is being tipped for another Oscar nomination.
But on Sunday, he was in Stone!
[box type=”shadow” ]Beth said: “I’d just started my shift and I was putting stuff into my locker, getting ready for work, and I could see my sister staring at me hard and she was whispering, ‘Beth, it’s Eddie Redmayne!’. We’d both seen Les Miserables and Hannah recognised him from that. He was buying some crisps and drinks before coming up to the tills. I said, ‘What would he be doing in Stone? It’s someone who just looks like him’. But when he was at the till, Hannah asked him. He just laughed and said ‘Yes I am’.”[/box]
Other staff members couldn’t believe it when Beth and Hannah told them about their celebrity customer.
“They really didn’t believe us until they’d seen the photos,” Beth said. “The service station owner’s wife, Jane, is a huge Les Miserables fan and she’d loved his performance in that. ‘I can’t believe I missed him’ she kept saying.
“Funnily enough, Hannah was going to the cinema that night to see The Danish Girl, which she told him. He said he hoped she enjoyed it and was really lovely to let us take a couple of photos.”
But Hannah almost didn’t get a photo with the star – because of her lack of make-up!
“Hannah had a photo with him first,” Beth said, “but because she’d started her shift at 7am she wasn’t wearing any make-up, so she deliberately took a selfie without herself in it! He said, ‘You’re not in it! Do you want to take it again?’. but she didn’t want to. When I took my photo I persuaded her to pop her head in!”
