Runners are being urged to get out of the blocks quickly to snap up their places for the 2017 Stafford Half Marathon.
A record 4,000 runners could be on the starting line next year as organisers increase the capacity again, up from 2016’s previous record of 3,500. Despite the extra places, people are being urged to book early as they are expected to be grabbed quickly.
The Borough Council-run event takes place on Sunday 19th March, with a start time of 10am. Entries open at noon on Tuesday 1st November. Runners must enter online at www.staffordhalf.com where the Half Marathon course and a selection of training plans are also available. Everyone taking part next year will receive a commemorative medal and t-shirt.
Councillor Mike Smith, Cabinet Member for Leisure and former Half Marathon competitor, said:
The Stafford Half Marathon is rightly seen as one of the top races in the county’s sporting calendar. If you do want to take part in 2017, make sure you get your entry in quickly because the popularity of this event just keeps on growing. We’re expecting our largest ever field next year.”
