Information on rubbish that has been dumped illegally at villages in Staffordshire is being requested by Stafford Borough Council.
Flytipping in the villages of Bradley and Hanchurch last month is the current focus, with the council putting put pictures and details of the discarded waste on its website www.staffordbc.gov.uk/grimewatch.
Grey wood pattern vinyl flooring and wall tiles which look to be from the renovation of a bathroom were found on the roadside near the A518 junction at Bradley Lane.
And in a separate incident, items including a printer, mattress, and schoolbooks were dumped at woodland in Harley Thorn Lane, Hanchurch.
The dedicated ‘Grimewatch’ page was set up to help catch fly tippers with the help of the public. Recently two people were fined for flytipping related offences in the borough – one from the Stoke on Trent area and the other from Telford.
Councillor Jonathan Price, Cabinet Member for Environment, said: “We do not tolerate flytipping and anyone who is caught can expect to be fined or prosecuted. The vast majority of local residents have pride in their area and are rightly outraged when others treat our villages and towns as a dumping ground.”
He added: “We need the help of the public to trace the offenders so please have a look at the pictures and locations and if you have information then let us know immediately.”
It costs tens of thousands of pounds of council tax payers money every year to clean up flytipping in the borough.
