9 GREAT HALF-TERM HAPPENINGS IN STAFFORDSHIRE

endgames03Zombies, ghouls and witches are descending on Staffordshire for a half-term you’ll never forget this October.
For the over-15s, Scarefest returns to the Alton Towers Resort from 21st-31st October (also 8th-9th and 15th-16th October), with terrifying mazes like the new Altonville Mine Tours, where a spine-chilling secret hides in the depths of a damp disused mine, and the House of Monsters scare zone for younger children aged 8+.
There’s also a rare chance to ride your favourite rollercoasters in the dark, if you dare!

fireworks-450If you’re brave enough to take on the undead, or want to discover the gory surprise behind Mrs Piggot’s Pie Shop, visit the brand new Terror Farm attraction at Lower Drayton Farm near Penkridge (24th-31st October).

halloween-2015-003-150x150There’s plenty for the little monsters to enjoy too, like the Halloween Spooktacular at the National Forest Adventure Farm, Burton (23rd October-1st November), where there are broomstick flying lessons, pumpkin carving and a haunted house to explore.

halloweenLearn about the horrible history at Tamworth Castle (24th-28th October), where you can make spells and play ping pong eye balls, and go bats on children’s art workshops at Ancient High House, Stafford (29th October), one of England’s spookiest venues.

20151026_091656For more creative capers, get your pencils at the ready at World of Wedgwood, which is hosting The STEAM Powered Big Draw Festival for Half-Term, the world’s biggest drawing festival, from 22nd to 30th October.

trench-installationOr head for the National Memorial Arboretum, near Lichfield, where there’s a range of half-term activities, including children’s author Helen Watts’ writing workshop on 24th October.

star_wars_blogSend half-term off with a bang at the Star Wars: The Force Awakens fireworks display at Drayton Manor Park in Tamworth (28th-30th October). There will be a big-screen showing of the film before the annual firework and laser spectacular.
