Stone performing arts school Rooftop Studios has some festive treats in store for kids in the run-up to Christmas this year.
In support of the Crown Wharf Theatre project, Friday, 20th December the studio will play host to a fundraising kids’ disco. A mini disco (2-7 years) from 6-7pm will be followed by a big kids’ disco (8 – 16 years) between 7-8.30pm.
For the mini disco, older students will show little ones dance routines to popular party tunes and they’ll boogie along for a full 45 minutes, with refreshments available for kids and parents to buy while they wait. The older kids’ disco will include dancing to a playlist compiled by students, fun Christmas games and a selfie corner and Christmas-themed mocktails.
Entry is just £3pp (bring some pocket money for refreshments etc) and there’s no need to book – just turn up and pay on the door. All profits will go direct toward Rooftop’s target of raising £5,000 to support the development of a new community theatre on the Crown Wharf site.
The studio will be transformed into the magical winter wonderland that is Arendelle for a special full day ‘Frozen’ workshop on Monday, 23rd December. Celebrating the launch of the new Frozen 2 movie, Elsa & Anna will take children on a magical journey to find snow in Arendelle, with lots of singing, dancing and acting fun along the way. Aimed at 3-12 year olds the workshop will run from 9.30am – 3.30pm (wraparound care available) at £25 per child.
Studio director, Laura Keeling, says: “We’re so excited about our Christmas events and look forward to welcoming both existing students and new faces to our fundraising disco – we’re committed to raising £5,000 toward the Crown Wharf Theatre project – a performance venue in Stone will not only be a massive boost to the studio but to the whole community.”
“The Frozen workshop day has been designed to offer parents a flexible childcare offering whether they’re at work or just need extra time to get those last-minute Christmas jobs done while the kids have a magical time with their favourite characters. We expect it to be very popular so early booking is essential.”
