Find your perfect summer read at Stone Library

Looking for something to read by the pool, on the beach or just in the back garden this summer? Stone Library is here to help you escape into a good book, without spending a penny.

Stone Library - Market Square

Staffordshire’s libraries have revealed their top book picks for the season, and Stone residents can borrow all of them for free. Whether you’re a fan of page-turning thrillers, epic romances, inspiring biographies or magical fantasy adventures, there’s something waiting for you on the shelves, or online.

Top titles to borrow this summer

Among the most borrowed books in the county over the past year were the hugely popular Thursday Murder Club series by Richard Osman. All four books in the series are still flying off the shelves. Other standout thrillers include Harlan Coben’s new release, Nobody’s Fool, and the modern classic Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn.

For those after real-life stories, look out for Al Pacino’s new memoir, Sonny Boy, or Hope: An Autobiography by the late Pope Francis. Both are available in physical format and as e-books.

Romance readers can dive into Jojo Moyes’ latest, We All Live Here, or lose themselves in the fantasy-romance worlds created by Sarah J Maas and Sue Lynn Tan.

Children’s books for all ages

If you’re hoping to keep the kids entertained during the summer holidays, Stone Library has plenty for them too. From toddlers to teens, the shelves are stocked with everything from Julia Donaldson and David Walliams to Charles Dickens and Jeff Kinney’s Diary of a Wimpy Kid series.
