The Armed Forces Day flag being raised at Swynnerton Training Camp near Stone to mark the start of Armed Forces Week 2025.

Each year, the Armed Forces Day flag is flown at Defence Training Estate sites across the country, offering a visible show of support for those who serve. This year’s ceremony at Swynnerton was held in partnership with the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) and recognises the contributions of serving personnel, reservists, cadet volunteers, veterans and their families.

Supporting military families through recruitment

Landmarc, which manages the UK Defence Training Estate alongside DIO, also used the occasion to announce an expansion to its guaranteed interview scheme. The policy, already in place for veterans, will now include military spouses, civil partners and long-term partners who meet the basic criteria for roles within the company.

Mark Neill, Managing Director at Landmarc and a veteran himself, said:

“Having supported the Armed Forces for more than two decades, we’re proud that over 25 per cent of our team comes from a military background.

Expanding our guaranteed interview scheme to military spouses and partners is another important step in recognising the loyalty and service these individuals contribute to our country.”

Celebrating a national week of recognition

Brigadier Hatcher, Head of Overseas and Training Region at DIO, added:

“Armed Forces Week is an opportunity to show our appreciation for the men and women of the Armed Forces community, providing a welcome morale boost to serving personnel, veterans, and their families.”

Landmarc reaffirmed its commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant in 2024 when it re-signed the agreement after achieving the Gold Award under the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme.

More to come across the week

The flag-raising ceremony is just one of many taking place across military training estates this week as the nation prepares for Armed Forces Day, which will be marked on Saturday 28th June 2025.
