Two pals from Stone will be running four marathons in 24 hours to raise money for the MS Society.
Kev Mellor and his friend Mark will be running from The Star pub on Friday at 5pm along the Trent and Mersey canal to the Harecastle tunnel and back – which is just over 26 miles. They’ll be doing this four times, running through the night, with the aim of being back at the Star at 5pm on Saturday 4th August for a well-earned pint or two!
They’ve both completed various charity runs in the past (10k, half marathons, marathons) but Mark fancied doing something different! A few years ago a lifelong friend of theirs, Andy, was diagnosed with MS and at times it has been heart-breaking for them to watch his condition deteriorate and see him in pain whilst trying to perform the simplest of tasks.
The MS Society helps those diagnosed with MS such as Andy and around 100,000 others in the UK in a variety of ways and Mark and Kev have asked for your support in helping this invaluable service to continue.
Andy lives on a narrowboat and spends a lot of his time on the Trent & Mersey canal and is often moored in Stone near to The Star. The charity and the route are both linked to him.
You can donate online here – and if you can, get down to The Star to support them too! If you’re on Twitter, you can also follow the 4in24 challenge here
