Police in Stone are holding two crime prevention events in May to help prevent the thefts of bicycles and car number plates.
Police and Staffordshire County Council will be holding a bike tagging event on Saturday 11th May between 9am and 5pm at Morrisons. They will be offering free Immobitags and registering owners with immobilise.com. You can take your cycle along and get the tag fitted free of charge – it normally costs £14.95, so it’s a great offer. The county council will also be carrying out servicing and checks where required.
Stone PCSO Jenny Ludlow-Smith said: “The tag contains a chip which can be read by a hand-held device carried by officers, immediately identifying an owner and allowing us to return stolen property.”
More information about Immobitags HERE.
The second event, with Stafford Borough Council, is in response to a “small number” of number plate thefts in the Stone area. Jenny added: “To raise awareness & protect motorists we are holding an event on Saturday 18th May, again at Morrisons. We will be giving away and fitting where possible anti-tamper number plate screws and offering crime prevention advice.

This is Staffordshires second ‘tagging’ day. The first was a hugh success with over 200 bikes tagged and registered on http://www.immobilise.com
We supply the tags to the Police/Council and oversee the registrations. There are over 30 million items of property registered with around 1.5 million bikes. It is a National Property database which is supported by ALL police forces. It is free and once you have opened your account can register anything you like. Why not visit http://www.immobilise.com and look for yourselves.
See you on Saturday 11th May 2013 Regards
