A running group for beginners gets under way in Stone on Friday 18th October – and the 10-week course is totally free.
The group – led by qualified local run leader Andy Osgathorpe – will meet on Friday evenings at Alleyne’s Sports Centre off Oulton Road, with each session running between 6pm and 7pm.
For further information – and to book a free place – email andyosga@yahoo.co.uk, call 07983877988 or sign up to the Facebook group HERE.
Andy said: “It really is a running group for absolute beginners and everyone is welcome to get involved. We’ll start with walking and jogging and gradually build up fitness over the 10-week course. I’ll be there to support as much as I can.”
The beginners’ running group is a ‘Run England’ event, the official England Athletics recreational running project which aims to get the whole nation running. It is for over-16s only.

Hi Andy,
I used to run quite a lot but various injuries and other aspects of life caused me to stop. I know I’ll never be near the times I was once capable of but I’ve a notion next year to try and run a 10k in fewer minutes than my chronological age. Sub 62 has got to be on and working with other people might help me realise it.
It might help me shift some timber too.
Thanks
John
