‘Friends’ get to work in Stonefield Park

Stonefield Park

The newly-formed Friends of Stonefield Park group will be starting work in the popular park on Thursday 6th August – and anyone who wants to get involved is invited to go along.

A work party will be in the park on Thursday from 10am to 1pm when work will start on digging over and weeding the whole of the bed behind the tennis courts and up to the gates at the top of the park by Stonefield Barbers.

Friends treasurer Alex Lewney will be working with a group of adults from the Carefree Living programme in Stone – but anyone can get involved. Carefree Living has made a donation to the Friends of Stonefield Park for tools and other equipment to be purchased; however, if you’re going along on Thursday, please take your own tools.

The aim of the Friends group is to work alongside parks staff to deliver a Green Flag award for the park, and to involve the local community in the life of the park. There’s lots planned and a Friends website will be up and running soon.
