A former student from Rooftop Studios is set to take to the stage on board one of the world’s largest cruise ships after securing a professional dance contract with Royal Caribbean International.

Cassidy Kempton-Lindsay, who trained at the local dance school, has been offered a place in the onboard cast for Broadway-style productions on Utopia of the Seas. She will begin rehearsals in Miami this spring before joining the ship as it sails around the Caribbean.
Cassidy trained at Rooftop Studios, studying RAD graded ballet and pointe, alongside performance troupe, acro, tap and singing. After completing her training, she set her sights on a professional career and went through a competitive audition process with Royal Caribbean International.
Following her successful audition, she is due to fly to Miami in early April, where rehearsals for the production shows will take place. She will then join the ship in May, performing across a range of large-scale theatre productions for guests throughout the season.
Speaking about the opportunity, Cassidy said,
“I’m absolutely over the moon to have secured this contract. It’s the result of years of training, hard work and determination, and I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who supported me along the way.”
Her former teachers say the achievement reflects both commitment and consistency over time.
Laura Keeling, Studio Director at Rooftop Studios, said,
“Cassidy’s success is a fantastic achievement and a real testament to her dedication and talent. We’re incredibly proud to see her take this next step into a professional performing career.”
Rooftop Studios runs classes for children and young people at its studios in Stone and Leek, covering dance and drama for those who enjoy performing, as well as those hoping to pursue it more seriously. Former students have gone on to a range of further training routes and professional opportunities.
For Cassidy, the contract marks the beginning of a new chapter, combining international travel with performing at sea, something she has been working towards for several years. She will spend months at a time living and working on board, performing regularly as part of the ship’s entertainment programme.
