Grown-ups will enjoy a programme of cookery demonstrations with top local chefs, alongside talks and tasting sessions on various tipples, in the Mercedes Benz of Stafford demonstration tent. There will be a great line-up of live bands performing over the weekend – with a laid-back acoustic and jazz vibe in the band stand on the lawn, and a more upbeat, rocky feel in the Beer Tent.

For those looking for a more genteel way to while away their visit, tours of the historic Sandon Hall will take place at 11am, 1pm and 3pm on each day – at an additional charge of £2 per person – and the 50 acres of formal garden will be open for exploration. When they’ve had their fill of history and horticulture, there’s always the option of a relaxed afternoon tea served within the hall’s reception rooms courtesy of Daisy’s Vintage Tea Rooms – or possibly a G&T or cocktail from the terrace bar.

Younger visitors will be equally well catered for.

Accompanied under-16s get in free – making this a great value day out for families – and once they arrive children can make the most of a dedicated family area.  Here they can enjoy musical retellings of traditional folk stories – including the legend of George & the Dragon – from comedian and troubadour Rich Stokes; alongside face painting, craft activities and fairground rides all available for a small charge. There will also be a pocket money stall for youngsters to choose their own treats, and the chance to meet and learn about some of the animals from Penkridge’s Lower Drayton Farm.

When visitors find they’ve worked up an appetite they’ll be spoilt for choice, with a host of fabulous street food stalls offering dishes to suit all tastes, while drink offerings will range from artisan teas and coffees through to Staffordshire brewed beer Slater’s ales and traditional cider in the beer tent; while fizz, a great selection of gins and some fab cocktails will be served from the terrace bar.
