Fundraising mission for five-year-old Phoebe

Phoebe with Pudsey on Children in Need day

A fundraising event is being held on Saturday 7th December to make Christmas extra special for a little girl from Stone who has been diagnosed with leukaemia.

Five-year-old Phoebe Moon, who is registered blind, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) last week. She is currently receiving chemotherapy at Birmingham Children’s Hospital but her family hope that she can be home in time for Christmas.

A fundraising family fun day is being held at Meaford Fields Day Nursery on the Whitebridge industrial estate in Stone on Saturday 7th December from 10am to 3pm. It has been organised by nursery owner Adele Cheadle and Phoebe’s godmother Karen Jones.

There will be face painting, cake sale, tombola, raffle, craft activities, decorating cakes, play areas set up, sweetie cart and Santa will also be there in his grotto. Money raised on the day will be used to transform the garden at Phoebe’s family home in Swynnerton into a Christmas winter wonderland. Money raised will also go to Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Ronald McDonald House, where Phoebe’s parents are staying while their daughter is undergoing treatment in Birmingham.

Karen said today: “Phoebe is such an amazing and brave little girl. When she’s recovered from this, which may take a few years, we want to raise money to send Phoebe and her family – she has a brother and sister aged one and three – to Disney Land. But as a starter, we want to decorate their garden so that it’s really magical for when she’s back home. This is what Phoebe has asked for and this is what we want to do.Phoebe has eight per cent vision, so she will be able to see the lights.

“People in Stone are being so generous and supportive. Adele is an old friend and she is being amazing and we’ve had lots of donations already.”

Here’s how you can help…

Is there a website where I can make a donation? I’m out of the country so unfortunately can’t attend on Saturday, but would certainly like to support this fantastic cause. Thanks for any info you can post.
