Gardeners and allotment holders in Stone can get their hands on a great mulch and soil improver – spent hops from Lymestone Brewery!
Viv Bradford, who runs the brewery with husband Brad, said: “We have a ready supply of spent hops at the brewery. When we’re done with them we bag them up and leave them outside. We hope that local allotment holders and gardeners will come and help themselves and take them away.”
You can collect the spent hops from outside the brewery, which is on the Mount Industrial Estate off Mount Road. Viv asks for a donation per bag to be put in an envelope and popped through the brewery letterbox.

Viv and Brad are both Scout leaders and also run the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme and all proceeds will go to those groups.
