Get ‘Closer to the Art’ at Stone station

‘Stone Boatyard’ by Ade Turner

On Saturday 25th October a select group of around a dozen artists and makers from Stone and the surrounding area will gather at Stone Railway Station for a special event aimed at offering local people the chance to meet and chat to some very talented artists and get ‘closer to the art’.

Amongst the wide variety of work on show, including sculpture, textile art, photography, watercolours, fine art, needlecraft and ceramics, will be many ideas for unique seasonal gifts, keepsakes or maybe even the start of a new collection.

A number of the artists present recently had some of their work selected for the prestigious ‘Staffordshire Open Art’ exhibition at the Shire Hall Gallery, Stafford.

Organiser Andrew Bill said: “The railway station at Stone is the perfect location for the friendly, relaxed event we’re planning. There’ll be an inspiring and varied array of art and hand crafted products to view from some very talented local professionals.

“Anyone who came to the previous event in December 2012, at the same venue, which was held to commemorate the unique calendar date of 12.12.12., will know they are in for a treat: a relaxed, informal day and evening in pleasant, homely surroundings, drinking in the art along with a hot cuppa and mouth-watering homemade cakes.”

Doors open at 11am.
