Get Creative & Improve Mental Wellbeing at Art Workshops

A special programme of art activities will be taking place at the Shire Hall Gallery in Stafford every Thursday.

 

Organised by Creative Health CIC in conjunction with Staffordshire County Council’s Arts team, “This Way Up” will promote good mental wellbeing using the arts.The workshops will be encouraging people to take some creative time out for themselves, and will be running from 12th January to the 9th February.

Professional artists will working with budding artists to create their own personalised pieces of art. These include construction, collage & printing. Participants will be offered a course of six hands-on art sessions, with new ideas being explored in each one. They can then develop their skills, ideas and artwork at home and enjoy art as a means to relax.

Gill Heath, cabinet member responsible for the arts at Staffordshire County Council said: “Arts can have a real positive impact on people’s lives and these workshops offer a great opportunity to take some time out and get creative. Under the tutorage of a professional artist you’ll get lots of guidance and ideas on getting the creative juices flowing. So, if you want to brush up on your art skills while taking some time to relax then book a place and see what you can make.”

Whether you’re a complete beginner, or have experience, all abilities will be catered for. Sessions will take place on 12, 19 & 26 January, and 2 & 9 February 2017. Morning sessions run from 10.30am – 12pm, afternoon sessions run from 1 – 3pm. Each session costs £3 each (£2 concessions), including all materials and refreshments.
