A meeting is being held in Stone on Monday 19th January to plan the future of the Signpost Centre and Stone Youth Cafe. Because of funding cuts that come into force in April, the future of both important services for the town is looking uncertain to say the least.
We’ve received this information from the Signposts Centre in Stone…
Over the last three years local people have benefitted from Signposts (drop-in centre) and Stone Youth Café (both in the Frank Jordan Centre in Lichfield Street) in Stone. The two organisations counter social isolation, antisocial behaviour, provide support in finding work, debt help, a food bank and ongoing support in a safe and friendly setting.
The loss of these things in Stone would be detrimental to many people’s wellbeing however with cuts to funding now set from April 1st that looks likely. Therefore Signposts and Stone Youth Café are looking to appoint new trustees to manage a merger into a new partnership and to develop and deliver a sustainable plan for the future. To find out more, including specific skills being sought, come to a meeting at the Frank Jordan Centre on Monday 19th January at 7pm or email Karen Wardell on karen.wardell@signposts-services.org.uk
Please get involved if you’re able to.
