People in Stone can now nominate the town’s volunteering heroes for this year’s Volunteer Staffordshire Awards.
The county-wide awards, now in their third year, will celebrate the invaluable contribution that volunteers make across the county.
With 10 categories this year, including a new Sporting Volunteer of the Year, there is an award for every kind of volunteer:
- Volunteer of the Year
- Young Volunteer of the Year
- Volunteer Team of the Year
- Lifetime Achievement
- Sporting Volunteer of the Year
- Cultural Volunteer of the Year
- Outstanding Leadership
- Environmental Volunteer of the Year
- Unsung Hero
- Business Contribution to the Community
Staffordshire County Councillor Pat Corfield, Cabinet Member for Culture and Communities, said: ”Volunteers play such an important role in our communities and deserve to be recognised. These awards help us do that and show them how proud we are of them. Last year we saw over 700 individual nominations, which was marvellous, so if you know someone who deserves recognition for their voluntary work, then please nominate them for an award.”

The closing date for nominations is Friday 4th January 2013 and the winners will be announced at a gala evening in March.
