[box type=”shadow” align=”aligncenter” ]Director of Prevent and Protect Glynn Lyznyj said: “The idea behind the campaign is to move people’s perceptions away from the fire service as a response service only and to inform them about the work we do in prevention and protection which is the most effective way of keeping the community safe.

“Fire services countrywide have undergone a transformation in the way in which they work; prevention is at the heart of everything the service does.

“Partnership working has been a key to the Service’s success in reducing the number of fires and other emergencies we attend.

“We have formed many ground-breaking collaborations within the local community and across the public sector, including the health and social care arena, ambulance and local councils. The Service works with partner agencies to deliver joint initiatives which target those most at risk in the community.

“We believe the most effective way to save lives, reduce injuries and other losses is by reducing the number of incidents that occur. We do this by using our brand, assets and people to tackle the problems at the root cause, with other organisations where relevant. This approach has seen the number of total incidents in Staffordshire, compared to 2012/13, decrease by approximately 12%.”[/box]
