Giant flag (and owner) ready for Wembley return

The owner of the giant Stone-Stoke flag that we recently featured on A Little Bit of Stone – and which you may have seen on the front page of The Sentinel – has been tracked down!

He’s Noel Edwards, a life-long Stoke City fan from Alma Street who was at the semi-final at Wembley with son George, aged eight.

The flag made the front page of The Sentinel!

The flag cost Noel £150 and has travelled around the country and Europe. You may have seen it during the 2006 World Cup in Germany.

But that could well have been the last place it was seen as Noel somehow managed to lose it there! Thankfully, he managed to track it down.

As a Stoke City season ticket holder, Noel’s already planning his return trip to Wembley on 14th May for the FA Cup Final –  with his flag, obviously!

Although wife Lucy may not be looking forward to the occasion so much – Noel’s expecting her to wash and iron it so it’s in pristine condition for the big match!

Thanks again to Nigel Howle, whose photo he sent to A Little Bit of Stone started the hunt for the owner.

And thanks to Noel’s wife Lucy for responding to our appeal on the Little Bit of Stone Facebook page – just don’t put the flag on a boil wash Lucy!!

Can’t imagine why it was on the front page? Possibly due to editor for the day being from Stone!!
