Go wild in the great outdoors with Staffordshire Wildlife Trust

Wild Week Out Staffordshire Wildlife Trust

Young nature lovers in Stone can enjoy a week of exciting outdoor activities on a new ‘Wild Week Out’ event being piloted this summer.

Staffordshire Wildlife Trust is holding ‘Wild Week Out’ to encourage youngsters to get closer to wildlife and nature in the great outdoors.  Starting on Monday 17th August, the event runs through to Friday 21st August and takes place at the Trust’s Wolseley Centre headquarters – but parents in Stone have been urged to sign their children up.

‘Wild Week Out’ is aimed at youngsters between the ages of eight and 13.  They will have the opportunity to take part in around four activities each day, from building shelters, wild cooking, pond-dipping and tracking skills. Towards the end of the week, parents and carers will be able to come along and witness their children demonstrating their new-found skills.

Alexis Johnson, the Trust’s Education Officer, said:  “On the back of our ‘Wildplay’ sessions, we thought we’d extend it to hold a ‘Wild Week Out’ event this year. Our ‘Wildplay’ events have been a lot of fun, and well received over the years, and we’re hopeful of the same response for our ‘Wild Week Out’ event too. Youngsters will be given the chance to take part in several outdoor activities with the same staff and group of peers each day – they will learn several new skills during the week and build friendships.”

‘Wild Week Out’ will take place from Monday to Friday inclusive, each day running from 10am to 3.45pm.  An early drop off from 8.30am is also available, with an ‘early bird’ price of £125 per child available until June 30th.
