“Few jobs are more rewarding and challenging than that of a police officer. From day one you’ll be helping to fight crime and protect the public.” – Chief Constable Jane Sawyers.

Whilst the exact number of posts available will constantly be reviewed, this recruitment process will be one of the largest in Staffordshire for many years.
[box type=”shadow” align=”aligncenter” ]Chief Constable Jane Sawyers said “As a police constable, you’ll have the opportunity to learn new skills, meet people and set out on a career path that could see you specialise as a Firearms Officer, a Dog Handler, a Detective or the trusted, familiar face of community policing which remains at the core of our approach to keeping our communities safe and reassured.”
“I really want to see applications from all backgrounds and communities. We serve diverse communities and we are encouraging applications from anyone who believes they can make a difference. We need people who are good communicators with a calm, confident personality; problem solvers, team players and people who can easily build trust and respect by appreciating and understanding the needs of those we serve.” [/box]
There are two routes for potential recruits: firstly if you have applied to another police force and have already passed the assessment centre, you could transfer your application to Staffordshire Police. Full details are available on the force website.
Secondly, the main recruitment process has been made open to everyone in the community which starts with an online self-assessment tool. The aim of the self-assessment tool is to help potential recruits identify what is involved in the application process and to help them decide if they are suitable for the role of Police Constable.
Jane Sawyers added “The standards we and our communities expect of a police officer are quite rightly very high, and I will only recruit those who can demonstrate their determination and commitment to serving our communities to the very best of their abilities. We will demand a lot of them and we will support our recruits as they develop their skills and knowledge, which means they can support and protect those in our communities.”
All the details of how to apply and the recruitment process are on the Staffordshire Police website. Those who successfully complete the self-assessment tool will then be able to download the application pack and log in to a dedicated section of the website for updates on the recruitment process.
[box type=”info” align=”aligncenter” ]Over the next few months there will be a number of key dates when applications will be assessed and those who can demonstrate their suitability on the application form will be invited to structured assessment centres. The first of these sessions take place in September 2016, so applications must be submitted before the 20th August 2016, to be considered for the first assessment centre. [/box]
