The owners of GR8 Kitchenware have decided to close their shop in the High Street Arcade. The business continues – but without a town centre presence. Owner Lee Edgington has asked us to share this message…
[dropcap]I[/dropcap]t’s with sadness that we announce we will be closing our cookshop in the High Street Arcade. Our business has always been internet-based with the smaller proportion of business being through the shop. Whilst we have tried and hoped that the shop would become more popular during the last seven years that we have been here, we have continued to believe that next year will be better.
Sadly, after seven years, this has proved not to be the case. In fact, if anything, online sales have continued to increase and the shop sales have shrunk further.
This is symptomatic with people’s changing shopping habits! The internet has been our friend and also our enemy. In addition to this the supermarkets are stocking an ever-increasing range of items that are/were traditionally supplied by independent shops like ours. It would be fair to mention that the general footfall in Stone is also declining.
With all this in mind we have finally let our heads overrule our hearts and decided to re-locate to an industrial unit in Stone. We plan to launch an improved website and will also be happy to take telephone orders for same-day local delivery, subject to availability of product, so we are still here to serve but in a different and more cost-effective way.
We have had a great seven-year run in Stone and would like to thank all our many customers and friends that we have served in that time.
Thank you to all in Stone from Lee and Yvonne, GR8 Kitchenware
