Residents are being asked for information in a bid to track down fly tippers who dumped a load of pub fixtures and fittings in the countryside.
A toilet door, carpet and seating were all part of the illegal dump in the Stableford area near Swynnerton.
It is the second incident in only a few days in the Stableford area with plastic windows discarded there earlier this month and posted on Stafford Borough Council’s online ‘Grimewatch’ page www.staffordbc.gov.uk/grimewatch – which has photos and information to help catch offenders.
The latest offence happened on Saturday 8th November in Dog Lane close to the A51. Officers are hoping pictures of the distinctive green patterned carpet, and toilet door with a ‘unisex’ sign taped to it, will help them discover where the rubbish came from.
Councillor Frank Finlay, Cabinet Member for Environment and Health, said: “We hope people will have some information about these dumped items that appear to have come from a refurbishment project – possibly premises such as a pub or social club.”
The recent fly tip also included a red and white Electrolux vacuum cleaner, tumble dryer lid and silver glass topped television stand. Councillor Finlay continued: “Fly tipping is unsightly and costly. Anyone who has information of people dumping rubbish illegally can contact us in confidence. The more information we have the better chance we will have of fining or prosecuting the offenders.”
There were more than 350 reports of fly tipping last year in the borough costing tens of thousands of pounds to clean up. A number of people have been fined in separate incidents over the last 12 months across the borough after items were disposed of illegally in Stafford, Eccleshall and the village of Great Haywood.
