The funding is specifically designed to build the capacity of community groups, helping them deliver community-based projects.

Initially launched on 1st April last year by Staffordshire County Council, a total of £1 million will be provided over four years. During the first year of funding, 394 applications were received and £475,000 was allocated.

Matthew Ellis, Cabinet Member for Adult Wellbeing, said: “Through previous rounds of funding, we have been able to benefit nearly 6,000 vulnerable adults by funding projects in their local area. Our aim is to benefit many more.

“We want to target those groups who really want to work with their community, and really want to make a difference. We have seen many projects benefitting from this fund, providing a valuable service to their community and improving people’s lives as a result.”

The closing date for applications is 30th November. More information about the Community Wellbeing Fund is available at www.staffordshire.gov.uk/communitywellbeingfund
