Thirteen intrepid walkers from the Wincanton Screwfix warehouse near Stafford will trek the entire 86-mile length of Hadrian’s Wall in March

The volunteers will need to average nearly 30 miles a day over the three days, starting on 23rd March, to complete the challenge. They will be raising money for the site’s charities, Staffordshire Women’s Aid and Staffordshire and Shropshire Blood Bikes and have been training hard in preparation.
Group leader Adam Paton is no stranger to this kind of feat, having done numerous other charity walks. He says; “Everyone’s been training hard on their own and in group walks. It’s going to be tough but I think everyone’s looking forward to it.”
Staffordshire Women’s Aid is a local refuge that supports women who are victims of domestic and sexual abuse. Founded in 1976 they support and empower women to help them plan for safer, healthier and independent futures.
Staffordshire and Shropshire Blood Bikes run a free volunteer service that delivers blood products to hospitals by motorcycle. This avoids the need for the NHS to use costly couriers and ensures more money is available for the hospitals to use on direct patient care.
This is the last event of the year in the site’s fundraising calendar, and they hope to go out with a bang. There is a Just Giving page set up for any donations.
