Young writers from Stone between 12 and 16 have been urged to take part in a series of creative writing workshops called ‘Page Talk’ over the October half-term break.
To celebrate the writing talents of young people, regional literature development agency Writing West Midlands has created a series of Young Writers’ Festivals and workshops known collectively as ‘Page Talk’.
Working with professional authors, poets and playwrights, young writers are asked to produce new writing through creative writing workshops that explore a wide range of genres.
After a challenging five days producing poems, stories and scripts, the borough’s next generation of writers will be revealed through exciting live events at the Shire Hall Gallery on 1st November as part of Page Talk Young Writers’ Festival.
Previously appearing at the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon and the Arena Theatre in Wolverhampton, Page Talk has already developed the writing skills of more than 30 young people.
Jess Webb, a former Page Talk participant, spoke highly of the project, saying: “It is something I would recommend to everyone, even if you just want to improve your writing or make some new friends. It was by far one of the best experiences of my life and I would do it all over again if I could.”
Costing just £25 per person, Page Talk Young Writers’ week will run from Monday 27th to Friday 31st October between 11am and 4pm at the Shire Hall Gallery in Stafford. The Young Writers’ Festival takes place on Saturday 1st November and will include an exciting live-streamed panel event with professionals from the writing industry.
