Happy 6th birthday to us!

A Little Bit of Stone marks it’s 6th year birthday today*!ALBOS - 6 Years Old

From its birth in August 2010 the story of A Little Bit of Stone (ALBOS) has gone from strength to strength thanks to the hard and dedicated work of all those involved in the site and equally important our fantastic readers. (*Our actual birthday has moved around over the years so we’ve decided to mark it officially by the earliest post on our website. Do you want to know what our first post was? Click Here!)

We have consistently posted over 50 stories to our website every month, not to mention the thousands of posts to our social media accounts.  All of this content is dedicated to the great people and businesses in our town. Being 2016 social media plays a massive part in our success by driving visitors to our website from Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Combined we have a social media following of almost 20,000 people…truly amazing!

The numbers continue to impress when we realise the we’ve had almost 2 Million page views on our website over the past 6 years.

The past month has been phenomenal for the website and social media accounts thanks to the success of our local legend, Joe Clarke. Joe who picked up Gold in Rio saw our Facebook page posts reach over a quarter of a million people in a 7 day period, staggering when you think of the size of our little town!

We can’t celebrate today’s birthday without acknowledging Jamie who took the very tough decision to head off to freelance pastures new!

So here we are on our birthday, and I’m thinking about what does the next 12 months hold. For me the plan is simply to continue to grow and develop the site as Jamie and I did as a partnership. Rest assured that we take our social responsibility as being Stone’s number 1 news platform and one of the biggest digital news outlets in the county very seriously. We will continue to bring you stories, events, job opportunities and more, all with the people of Stone at the centre of what we do.

If we can do anything positive to mark our birthday I really hope we can help push the Stone Community First Responders appeal to fit a specialist defibrillator in to their response car. If you’d like to contribute to this entirely donation led organisation then the Just Giving link is https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/emily-allman

I’d like to personally say a massive thank you to our terrific volunteers, we really couldn’t do it without you.

Finally I’d like to thank my wife and family for putting up with all that ALBOS life entails. I couldn’t do it without their support.
