Knitters and crocheters from Stone did their bit to make winter warmer for older people across the UK by taking part in The Big Knit last week.
Yarn Gathering, the town’s yarn store in Radford Street, invited knitters to raise money for Age UK at Costa Coffee on Thursday 15th September by knitting bottle-top hats for Innocent smoothie bottles.
The Big Knit – organised by Innocent – has been an annual event since 2003.
Little hats are knitted by knitters up and down the country, who then send their hats to Innocent, who hand-pack them on to their little smoothie bottles.
They are then sent off to store, and will be available to buy in Boots and Sainsbury’s stores across the UK for three weeks from 16th November. For every behatted bottle sold, 25p is donated to Age UK.
