Headstone fundraising mission for Connan

Connan McLeod

Friends of Connan Mcleod need your help as they raise money for a headstone for the 23-year-old who was tragically murdered in the town earlier this year.

Daniel Allott, aged 27, of Bagots Oak, Stafford, was convicted of Connan’s murder on 8th October and is serving a 23-year sentence. More HERE.

Now, Connan’s friends want to support his parents by raising £1,200 for a headstone. The fundraising is being led by one of Connan’s best friends, Jake Duffy.

Jake said: “Connan was my best friend and I classed him as family. For those who didn’t know Connan, he was a top lad who loved life and adored his friends and family and was one of the most loyal people you could ever meet. We’re raising the money because Bob and Sue (Connan’s parents) are struggling to get back into work after the loss of their son, so they really need our support.”

You can donate to the headstone fund HERE – the fundraising appeal ends on 10th November. Please do support if you can. Anything raised over the £1,200 target will go to the Donna Louise Trust, which runs a children’s hospice in Stoke-on-Trent.

Jake – along with Matthew Barker, Jim Cotton and Roy Mac – are also taking part in a boxing event to raise money for charity in Connan’s memory, as well as to remember the other young people from Stone who have lost their lives so tragically this year.

Jake added: “We’re doing the boxing tournament in memory not just of Connan but of the other young lads lost in Stone this year – Daniel Basham, Kieran McColl and Phil James – and to try to get everyone in Stone to show that the community can still come together as one and support each other in trying times.

The boxing tournament is being held at the Britannia Stadium on 9th November, with all proceeds from the event going to Cancer Research. Click HERE for more information and to buy tickets.
