Children picked up some top tips for creating healthy family meals at the Signpost Centre in Stone over the half-term break.
The free event was held at the centre – in the Frank Jordan Centre in Lichfield Street – in partnership with the borough council. Children prepared and cooked fruit kebabs, roasted vegetables and chicken nuggets. Instructor Liz Chapman taught safe cutting techniques and how to prepare healthy, family-friendly meals on a budget.
Signpost Centre manager Karen Wardell said: “Everyone really enjoyed it. The food was eaten at the end of the session and lots of clean plates were left! More healthy eating events are to be held from April, so call 01785 812417 if you’d like to attend.”
The Signpost drop-in centre is open for anyone to call in, have a chat, socialise, seek support or browse the internet. Tea, coffee and toast are provided free of charge! Signpost staff will always be on hand to help, listen or signpost to other agencies. The Stone centre is open from 9.30am to 1pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
