Help at hand to make firework displays safe

Firework

Pubs, clubs and businesses in Stone that are holding firework displays this year have been asked to contact the borough council to make sure their events will be safe.

Last month the authority took part in a number of workshops for businesses across Stafford Borough to learn more about their responsibilities if they are organising firework events for residents and customers. Now the council is encouraging any local business to get in touch for advice on carrying out risk assessments, as well as other safety issues, if they are holding a bonfire event. There are around 1,000 firework-related injuries a year across the country.

People can contact ehtechsupport@staffordbc.gov.uk or on 01785 619000.  Lots of advice on the safe use of fireworks can be found at www.staffordbc.gov.uk/fireworks
