The Keep Stone Tidy group is organising lots of litter picks in 2011 – but wants your views on the litter hotspots in the town.
The following dates and locations have been suggested, and the group is now looking for volunteers and more locations:
- February 26th or 27th: Walton, subway and immediate areas of A34
- March 26th or 27th: Whitebridge Estate / Newcastle Road / bottom end A34
- May 28th or 29th: Pre-Stone Carnival – Westbridge Park / Crown Meadow / areas around town
- June 25th or 26th: Suggestions welcome
- July 30th or 31st: Suggestions welcome
- August 27th or 28th: Suggestions welcome
- September 24th or 25th: Pre-Food & Drink Festival – Westbridge Park / identified areas around town
- October 29th or 30th: Pre-firework display.
Where are the litter hotspots in town? Let Keep Stone Tidy know – and get in touch with them if you’d like to volunteer.

“Where are the litter hotspots in town?”
Generally, our town is relatively litter free, compared to some places, but the one area that really bugs me is the disgrace of a car park outside the Hanley, Subway and Bargain Booze in Mill Street. It is private land so Kevin, our Borough Council street cleaner, can’t deal with the litter.
Why should these businesses rely on volunteers to clear up outside their premises?
All three should be ashamed of allowing the environs of their premises to become a regular eyesore. Come on you three! You’re making a good living out of Stone people. Clean up your act and get a brush and pan!
