Stone parents have little over a week to apply for High School places, with the admission application deadline being the 31st of October.
Admission applications to High Schools close on October 31st, meaning Stone parents still have time to make that all-important decision on which High School their child will attend in September 2022. Applications are open for children who are currently in year eight at middle school.
Last year there were over 200 late applications, which may have affected the outcome of these applications, so parents are urged to apply before the deadline.
With an increased demand for secondary school places in some areas of the county, Staffordshire County Council’s admissions team has produced some top tips when making an application.
These include:
- Make more than one preference
- Be realistic about the schools being applied for, and always include your catchment area school on your list of preferred schools where you have one. You can carry out a school search at www.staffordshire.gov.uk/admissions
- Understand the admissions arrangements for each of your preferred schools. This will enable you to assess what order of priority will be given for each school. You will find this information at www.staffordshire.gov.uk/admissions
- All applications are considered at the same time, meaning it is crucial that all applications are in by October 31.
County Councillor Jonathan Price, Cabinet Member for Education, said:
“Parents who need to apply for a place but haven’t done so yet need to get in before the closing date. By applying on time, they will have the best chance of being allocated one of their top three preferred schools for their child.
“Our admissions team have an excellent track record of allocating the majority of parents their first preference school, but this job is made all the easier by parents getting their applications in before the closing date.”
