Historic royal ale at Jubilee tasting

Some of the historic Bass royal ales ready for tasting!

Old School Wines will be cracking open some historic bottles of royal Bass ale – one over a century old – for a Diamond Jubilee tasting session with a difference!

The Tittensor merchants has collected a number of bottles of these remarkable ales over the years, the centrepiece of which is the 1977 Silver Jubilee Ale. Also available to taste on the night of Friday 1st June will be Bass Princes Ale from 1982, Princess Ale from 1978 and, oldest of all, the Bass Kings Ale from 1902.

But what does decades-old ale actually taste like?! Andrew Wilson from Old School Wines said: “They’re beautiful, akin to slightly effervescent port. Very fruity and VERY strong!”

Tickets for this unique occasion are just £12.50 each but there are only 25 places available because of the limited quantity of the historic ales. You can book a place by calling 01782 372 888.
