HS2 is holding an event in Stone as part of its consultation into the second phase of the planned high-speed rail line.
HS2 is holding a series of drop-in information events near the Phase Two route, including one at Yarnfield Park (Yarnfield Lane, Yarnfield ST15 0NL) on Thursday 24th October between 12pm and 8pm.
There’s an event in Stafford on 10th December too – click HERE to see the full list of consultation events.
The proposed second phase of HS2 from Birmingham to Manchester and Leeds was confirmed in January (more information HERE), and it is set to pass near Walton, Darlaston and Swynnerton, skirting round Swynnerton Park, on its way north. Click HERE to see a map of the proposed route.
The Government says the new rail link is needed to cut journey times, ease overcrowding and boost regional business – but it has come in for fierce criticism, with Stone MP Bill Cash and Staffordshire County Council objecting. Mr Cash held public meetings in Swynnerton and at Stone railway station in February. Click HERE to see a video of the Stone station meeting.
The company says on its website: “These events are an opportunity to review the consultation information, understand more about the implications for your local area and speak directly with HS2 Ltd staff about the proposed scheme.”
The company warns, however, that even if you attend an event, you still need to submit your response to the proposal via the formal consultation response channels “to ensure that issues raised at this key stage of the project’s development are considered and will help develop the proposals for the Phase Two route”.
Click HERE to have your say in the consultation, which closes at 5pm on 31st January 2014.
